Byron Dunn. He runs the Powerline magazine and the forum is part of that. I'm not sure why he started it all up, but he's done a great job in improving communication within the industry.

Lord Byron is a mystery. He gets all his help mixed up----me included. It happens atleast once a month. It's true. He gets me mixed up with his accountant. Yes, I have to remind him that I'm just the maid around here. :D

What does that mean? :D
I can see this nanna thing becoming a quick catch phrase. Maybe the word of the year!
"I had a banana of a job. It consisted of.."
"What do you think this is some banana split?!!" Banana Split=Cake Walk
"Well, if you had any bananas at all this would have never happened."
"It pays to have your banana with ya."
"Hey bananahead." Bananahead=grunt or new ape

Byron is a VERY COOL fella, we had a few drinks at a linemans rodeo in Louisiana when I introduced him to Gary and Brenda from Lineman Outfitters and we had a blast together with 639_TRBL as well. We bought plenty of rounds and blew quite a bit.
Be sure if you run into him make him buy you some rounds:)

Sorry for the delayed response. I tried to post an answer Friday and after a big old post my computer froze up and I lost it...
Poot is right about one thing... I do like naked ladies.
Since I was a kid I have always been one to try and create a businesss of my own. I have tried all kinds of things from Amway to tree trimming to make extra money over the years.
On Christmas 1996 my then wife gave me the book "The Road Ahead" by Bill Gates. In it he said that everything in the future is going to be on the internet and that NOW was the time to stake your claim. So, my original idea was to have an on line magazine but what it turned out to be was a froum using the old Guest book, Bulletin Board software. The other reason I wanted the Linemen to communicate was so that we could all compaire the wages..
I made a free employment posting board and when SDG&E posted and LADWP I thought they might could pay for that service and that is how it started.
As far as how much time I spend at it..... that's hard to answer. I sit at my desk for a few hours every day but I'm always thinking about it. it is the magazine that has my attention all of the time... The deadline is always there.
Other than that, I still mow my own yard and do my own dishes and split my own wood... I do quite a bit or work for my local Elks Lodge... It is a pretty standard lifestyle for a semi retired guy.
I don't like to try and influence any of the discussions on this Forum. It just doesn't seem appropriate for me to try to do that so I stay out of it as much as possible...
No idea of what your talking about with the banana stuff...

Someone is going to have to find the original thread because I don't even remember. But, here is the pic Byron. :D
Found the link with Bren's help. It was all about the Banana Holder. Another "What is this?" kinda thread, but Bren made it with linework material.

Thanks for responding Mr.Dunn............thats great that you took Bill Gates advice...........and hope it all works well with you................about the naked ladies..............are you sure your idea of naked ladies.............and Poots idea of naked ladies are the same............you know us Texas guys like them a little bigger than the rest...........and if you need anything hauled my brother lives in Colorado Springs..........kinda small moving/hauling service................but he wont haul anything too big..............if you catch my drift.............so you are the real deal......thanks.

Ummmmmm Me I think you will never meet a better person than a coonass. They are very appreciative for all that they have, and most are willing to share it with whoever.
Ummmm I stayed here and watched as Hurricane Rita devastated the area. It wasa very unusual hurricane as it had minimal amounts of rain. The wind damage to trees however was horrendous. The traffic trying to evacuate was really bad. Some folks made less than a few miles in 8 hrs. When the storm subsided there was absolutely no transmission voltage on our entire grid. There was nothing available in the way of fuel or food or even a pack of smokes was impossible to find for probably the first 7 days. Katrina had hit new orleans only weeks before and our resources were stretched thin. We all purged our freezers of food and brought it to work where someone was cooking around the clock tryin to feed those of us still here. Lottsa bar b que that week.Eventually food was trucked in from Louisiana and caterers trying to make a buck were positioned at several outposts to feed the massive numbers of outside help arriving daily. At one point I had around 400 linemen working under my directive.State troopers were stationed at every exit and refused to allow anyone to return, They were later replaced with Nat'l gaurd troops carrying automatic rifles. But the savvy people were determined to return and managed to skirt the interstate n use back roads to get back in. Materials coming in from all over the world were strategicly placed in areas where the devestation was at its worst which here was basicaly everywhere. Men slept in their trucks Kause FEMA people took over all available Hotel/Motel rooms. By the end of week 1 we managed to get a 500KV line into texas, but with a line like that if there is no load to put on it the voltages will gradually increase until it causes the generators kick off line so we hadda have as much distribution load ready to put online as possible. It was an experience for sure

I'll have to agree on there aren't better people than those Cajuns. There was some up in SC during Hugo. My husband said they didn't have much to begin with, but they were always willing to give. He also said it was some of the best food he ever ate. And no, he didn't ask what it was. :D

Nowa days everyone takes to the road, after hurricane Katrina.I happen to stay,it used to not be as bad, mostly the wife and children would leave for Dallas and other places........They make a big deal out of a cat 1 or cat 2 hurricane....we havent had anything like a cat 4 or 5.....but that day will come and this area will be devastated.......people here dont know what a hurricane is, cause they havent seen a Camile or anything like it ,so we have been lucky.

Sombody mentioned the magazine,I wonder if it has any pics of hot woman.............back when I was a kid my uncle had those hot rod magazines,I loved to look at them, after all for a kid it was the closest thing to playboy that a kid could get his hands on.The cars looked good, but I liked the photos of the woman, even those biker types,a little belly button never hurt a kid...maybe the magazine can have like a hooters girl in it,but these would be called the ex's of lineman Or they could just do what hustler does, personally I used to get a kick out of some of those cartoons....what a job to have, ever wonder how they think up some of that stuff.
