Ive now got you cornered Bren and Big Clive, and you other lineman across the wide Atlantic, lets say you were sent to the United States to do linework.....where would you want to work and where would you not like to work.....how do you think you would fit in with our union/non-union,contractor/Utility systems.....how would you like doing the work hot as opposed to having sections de-energized? And for the US lineman, how do you think you would handle being over there doing things the way they have described it being done there.....thats besides all the rain......seems like no pressure i bet........personally I think it would be quite fun,it looks like over there they seem more relaxed,in a way they have a better system, lots of traveling, lots of climbing, lots of mud.....being away from the family would be hard....but it would be an experience.....just from my point of view.........forgot,Id be worried about the food, and thats cause I dont know whats cooking over there...could be kangeroo.

I'd probably choose Canada or at least some more remote bluecollar part of America, working with an REA. Live work wouldn't bother me if it was being done sensibly.

I'm travelling. Enough already. ::). And I've worked live reppy. In ireland. , new zealand, and the uK.
We had a couple of guys over from "mohawk electric" when the National grid bought them a feww years ago. The main difference between tower line men over there and in the uK was the amount of holidays we got...... Probabaly twice as much in the uk . :)
I rem the 2 mohawk linesmen coming over......... We assumed 2 of us. Would go over there. BUT ! They sent 2 enginers.... :(
As for where I'd work now... I wouldn't take a job outside europe.
But I would retire to new zealand... :)
