Do any of you guys get a share of the linesmans gold ? (Copper)

We don't.... And if we did would we admit it...... ?

Maybe a dodgey Question coz most linesmen would probably be afraid to admit. "Aquiring" some.

If you drove a truck like that full of copper up here you'd have people like buzzards on a crap wagon trying to take that away before you got to the garage. We've had full reels of copper taken from a fenced yard. They stick the end thru the fence, hook it to their bumper and pull it off the reel, right down the road then chop it up into managable pieces, throw it in the truck and they are gone.

I was training a group of Troubleshoters in substation switching, While they were getting orders in the switch house I was standing just outside the door with an ear cocked toward them. I was looking around and noticed the copper substation bonding that went around the concrete the station metal clad gear was sitting on, was gone! Someone came into the station and removed the portion of the grounding grid that ties all the grounds to the grounding grid! How the H. E. double hockey sticks, do they do that? It was 1/2 inch X 2 inch copper flat stock that is bolted to the edge of the cement footings and 4/0 copper wire is bolted to it and goes into the ground attached to the grid below the gravel. . .all gone! Cut off at ground level. This station was in a residental area right next to a customers home.

With 3 ton colleceted this morning. And the going rate about $6000 per ton. We've nealy 20000 dollars worth loaded up...... And that's just a mornings work.

Don't ask how I know the price per ton...... :)

But I can see how a gang might be tempted.

We've probably 30,000 dollars a day being taken down... And in total we are taking down maybe over 250,000 dollars worth...... A good weeks wage for some :)
