Does anyone have to notify the dispatchers before entering a sub? Some have cameras some dont.Where do the subs where you work get their names, here they could be named after a street,a certain area that it is located in,a small town ,a old business that no longer is in business....here you can tell what voltage a circuit is by the number behind the name...for example if the circuit is out of( Hays) sub...if its numbered Hays 1 through Hays 16 it would be a 12kv circuit.......Anything that is numbered in the 40s would be a 34.5 circuit, such as Hays 41 or Hays 46..some of you guys know some circuits like the back of your hand.....we have all types of names..but I dont think any have been named after a lineman.

Our system isn't that big so we name them by what their location is. 'Downtown', 'East' or the business name it is designated to feed. A few of us thought of re-naming them for our past Bro's but we don't have enough subs to do that and we didn't want to not include anyone. We have our 'Wall of Hardhats' at our shop as a memorial. To enter a sub you must be Journeyman or be acompanying a Journeyman.

Ummmmmmmm most of ours were named after the subdivisions near them.Others were named after a subdivision yet were miles n miles away from it......A few bore the name of the street they were located on. Ummmmmmmm n at least one other sub got named "Pansy" neither a street nor a subdivision.......... Ummmmmmmm Ok lookin back onnit we had no criteria for names But they did put a big fence around all of em.Some had as many as 8 feeders most had 4 and several had dual voltages coming out of em.Anybody with a key was allowed to enter and were "supposeta" notify dispatch but ummmmmmmmmm more often than not they didnt. The older stations had creature comforts like ummmmmmmmmm toilets. A few had air conditioned control houses, None of the newer subs had any creature comforts.

We had one.kidding, put it this way....a certain guy was building a terminal pole way back when....I guess he really took a long time....another lineman found a 2 by 6 piece of woon and wrote the guys last name on the board.....it said.....Anderson Sub........whenever the lineman would talk about that area ,we would mention it being around Anderson sub.......although it was a terminal pole.:D
