Talking about greed, you need to hear this one...I wasnt aware of any of this until now,but from what Im hearing, this is how I will explain it to you guys. As lately as last tuesday it seems that Duke Energy and Progress Energy have merged. The new company Duke would have Progress William Johnson as Ceo and Dukes James Rogers as executive chairman.Hours after the completion & installation of Johnson as the CEO of the combined companies CEO, the board of directors asked for Johnsons resignation & installed Rogers as the CEO.So for a day....just one day as CEO Johnson was provided with a compensation package which includes around $44MILLION BUCKS OR totals that amount......what do you think about that one???????????

If that's the real deal the sad thing is I'm not that surprised, these corporate types always make these sweetheart deals for themselves before they make their deals. I wonder how much these poor struggling giants of the corporate world have helped the employees or customers of the companys they run. The country/politicians have allowed what used to be utilities to become a nothing but a for profit and only for profit organization at the sacrifice of the public good by not providing the service customers and the public deserve.

Makes me think about all the cost cutting they always mention, less people doing more wrk and all....maybe when it comes to their pay, cost cutting is not allowed.

The NC Utilities Commision and the Attorney General of NC have launched an investigation into the deal Duke pulled. Duke stock fell almost $3.00 Friday because Standard and Poores is threatening to downgrade it because of the stunt Duke pulled. Simple truth is, they $hitcanned Bill Johnson 20 minutes after the deal was final. He is not the kind of man who would have knowingly been a party to this kind of thing. He treated Progress Energy employees well, and was well liked by stockholders and employees alike. Duke must have somehow saw that as a bad thing. I guess we'll see!
