What do you use for tagging a line that you are working on. Wether during an outage or maintenance, whatever. Do you use HOLD tages and Caution tags? Anyone using the pole band from Estex that holds the cards?

Those red pole band tag holders are pretty much mandatory here. We have a system set up that allows us to use a red tag on a radial feed and numbered yellow tags on loops when we have a section isolated for work. Our holdoff tags are a buff color, we use them when we have to manually block a reclosure

We use a two part Red Tag for taking a line out for men to work on the dead line. We also use a black and yellow stripped tag to mark a recloser on one-shot or a three phase recloser with the ground trip blocked. In the case of the Red Tag only the person holding the second part of the tag has authority to remove the tag.
In Virginia VOSHA has stated if you have three fuses on the pole that are opened they want three red tags, one for each operable device. If it's a three phase recloser or switch then you only need one tag.

For us we have 2 basic types of tags that provide work protection a yellow numbered tag that is used on more than 1 device & a red tag that can only be used for 1 device. We have multiple ways of hanging our tags, but if we use the red pole band to hang a work protection tag, no work can be done above that tag.
