I called them yesterday to see whats up and the lady I talked to didn't know very much. She said the work is in the northeast US and they are paying travel too. I asked her when she would know some more details and she said later this week. She didn't even know what the job is or how big it is.

I just decided to google strom engineering, it seems they are hiring scab workers for a lockout at cooper tires and american crystal sugar. I think I'm going to do a little more looking

I wonder when you mentioned the northeast if was for Con-Ed or possible Conn. Loot and Plunder, they still don't have a contract yet. Seems Mr May from boston is flexing his muscle, I guess when you make in excess of 9 million a year it's hard to have any feelings for the little people that keep the lights on.

I worked for a contractor in Connecticut back in 2004, the pay was $33.00/ hr , so it seem to me 10 years later in would be closer to 40/hr now. The rate of pay they are offering isn't even the going rate, let alone being a scab too.

Scab? You mean Non Union thinking and alternatives?
It would seem to me that if mr.reppy had really wanted to know about this company and who they are, he would have typed their name into google.
I sorta think mr. reppy knows exactly who Storm is, and what they do. An "ad in a newspaper" huh? Cool.

You started the thread sir.
Asking if anyone had heard of the company. What was the purpose in starting that thread, when you could have just googled the name of the company.

after reading there own description on there website, it is obvious this company with their "non-union and alternative" thinking are a group who helps you the major corporation increase your "leverage" in an attempt to squash middle class workers, decrease wages and benefits, and take as much away from workers as physically possible while still finding a way to put some guys in the trucks and continuing business..........maximize corporate profits at the cost of the workers. Makes me trust my decision to start union and stay union. Any body who works for a group like this will hopefully get everything they deserve...... whatever that may be. Thanks for the post reppy

You know what their company is.
Swamp,if you googled Centerpoint Energy, you still wouldnt know how they operated...unless you actually worked for them.Thats why I asked, just wanted some info from other lineman, not from googling it....if you read what others said, they mentioned that its a scab outfit. That was all I needed to know, simple for me....but since its a scab outfit, that attracts you,why ...I dont know or care.....look at this example.....If you googled Pike, you wouldnt know much about its safety record...but hearing from other lineman you would think that company should have a danger sign on the trucks instead of Pike...Do you kind of understand now.Let it die, unless your just bored to death .:D

Geez, it wasn't even hard for me here in the Great White North to figure out what they were up to, the first clue is replacement workers!

It's all interesting actually.
I just sit back and watch,...and wonder.
It's just a battle. The people who invest in companys to make money...god forbid, "Profit", are invested to make money as that company hopefully progresses.
In these changing times, so much has changed, that everything is "scary" nowdays.
Imagine...Hostess, is Closing it's doors and sutting down...in America, after 70 some odd years.
18,500 American Jobs lost. Not All the fault of Union, there were "bad decisions" in the company, but the final straw was....Union.
On a Brighter note, I'm sure we will still be able to buy "Twinkes", though Imported...from Mexico. Maby there's still hope for an American company buyin out Hostess....

its very easy to blame the unions any time a union company doesnt succeed......especially if you go off opinions rather than facts. Fact one.....companies that arent union also fail, nobody blames the employees. Facts in the hostess case...... in 2004 union employees took concessions on the premise that that money would go to refurbishing plants and equiptment thus increasing production and profits. That never happened. Fact 2..... the average pay in hostess plant in emporia kansas was 14.42 per hour or about 30,000 a year. Harldy making it big for what are portrayed as overpaid greedy group of people. Fact 3...... the top ten hostess executives were asking for 27-32% reduction in pay and benefits for the workers meanwhile giving themselves wage increases as high as 300%.Anybody that believes the union killed this company should go to their boss tomorrow and donate a third of their wage package back to the company, then go back to 2004 and give back a third of their wages from then till now also. maybe get together with the rest of the employees and see how many will do the same. Also if hostess answer is to move to mexico and you think that is great take a look at mexico's economy and the separation between the rich and the poor, the lack of a middle class and the struggles of the people there. Decide for yourself if thats the american dream..... is $30,000 year for a family to live off of too much. Go ahead and buy those made in mexico twinkies, those made in china cars and clothes, the products made in taiwan. Dont blame the unions..... blame the american consumer who buys from the cheapest bidder rather than supporting the american economy. History has shown in the u.s. that when the middle class does well so does the economy, and the opposite is also true........ all facts.
