Im hearing that a white sturgeon has been caught on the Fraser River,a British Columbia waterway.it only weighs 1,100 lbs and is 12 foot 4 inches long.Is a fish that large as good to eat as a smaller one? We dont have Sturgeon in Texas,I dont believe,I think Ive ate some in the northwest years ago...By the way the fish might be over 100 years old......how about that Bren?

Ummmmmmmm fishes, once they reach a certain size( varies depending on the type ) aint fit to eat once they go over. I aint never et me no sturgeon n aint sure I would wanna But a Catfish or a redfish get plum nasty when they get too big. Its best to release em to continue to breed so we can catch some tasty liller uns.

There is something fishy about this thread.

Hey nice catch DH! Oh, and we have sturgeon in the Suwannee River. They can be dangerous jumping out of the water while boating on the river. They say it's a terrible smell. Uh, no for me!

[U]A jumping sturgeon knocked a 32-year-old Chiefland woman unconscious Saturday afternoon as she and her family were boating on the Suwannee River near Manatee Springs State Park, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Brianne H. Megargel was with her husband Stephen and their 10-year-old son Grayson Megargel in their 17-foot open boat when the accident happened, according to commission investigators.
The sturgeon jumped out of the water as the boat was traveling north at about 25 mph, hitting the woman as she sat on the starboard side. The impact also knocked her out of the boat, witnesses reporting that the fish was about 60 to 70 pounds. Megargel's husband jumped into the water to rescue her, while the 10-year-old operated the boat, and they took her to Manatee Springs State Park. She was taken to Shands Hospital in Gainesville by helicopter for treatment of multiple injuries, according to the commission.
This is the second reported sturgeon encounter this year, the last one on May 1.
This is the usual season for gulf sturgeon to begin their annual migration back into the Suwannee River, where six boaters were hurt and 11 other encounters with the bony-nosed fish were reported in 2011, according to the commission.
