What I meant by call in is that I knew several guys that would call in when a thunder storm hit our area, asking the foreman if they needed help,it worked at times, but it would screw the guys who were on duty that week.Another guy worked the 4-12 shift, even on a slow night this guy would stay over around 2 or 3 hours listening to the radio,if something came up he would call the dispatchers and volunteer. He would wind up with the most overtime every year. Now it gets crazy cause the company didnt always go by the duty weeks but than again if you didnt answer your phone or turned the OT down, they held that against you.It always was meant for the duty week personal to be called first, and then you would call the crews that had the duty week next and so on.Not always is it a two way street as far as the company goes.
