Anyone here ever considered or been interviewed for a foremans job ?Whether you have or havent ,why would you not consider having that position?Theres plenty of guys still in their hooks that would make a good foreman.Who are the guys taking these positions in your area, the younger or the older guys?

Depends on what kind of company you work for. Luckily I work for one who has a good track record of offering the positions to guys who actually deserve it, young or old. For us, for me also, one's knowledge of the trade and one's running safety record trumps just about everything else. That will get you recommended for the position but the ability to get along with others, be organized, and make decisions will get you the title. Here anyways, the position is offered to you. There really is no applying for it.

I've been offered the foremans job when I came here first... And the charge hands job...
there are three reasons I won't consider them positions .....
1. I have been a foreman .... Found myself as a referee between the linesmen and the managers. If one was happy... The other wasn't .... So always somebody moaning...
2. The difference in the rate between the two is a pittance So why would I bother ?
3. I love working at heights .......... ( being on my hooks ). IM A LINEMAN AN LOVE IT :)

At least you were offered the position. When I went to a job in the big city a foreman gave me 3 guys and said go put the poles in to start this job. After a couple of weeks I went to him and told him I didn't agree to work in the city to run a crew, his reply, well you are! Well I told him as much as I didn't want to do it at least pay me for it, but of course the extra wasn't worth it. I would just as soon be the guy doing the work.
