Back in the good ole days when things were really booming and there were subdivisions going up everywhere the work was plentyful. The foreman or headlineman would usually ask everyone on a tuesday if they wanted to work saturday or sunday..sat being 1.5 and sunday being double time. This continued for a couple of years or more, the catch sometimes was that if you didnt work saturday, you couldnt work sunday. The majority of the work was urd make-up,back when the utilities did their own make-up.....That was a guaranteed 32 hrs or more each paycheck, plus the 1 hour lunches.

When we worked sat and sun in new Zealand .... It was all double time. " unless it rained.."

THEN IT WAS TREBLE TIME..

And we got 12hrs guarantee,d each day... So of it was a wet weekend you could get 72 hrs pay for the two days....
