Is there anyone who can only work 40 hrs or less per week, where I used to work they would say no overtime and the next week or two it all changed. Then as time passed they would again say no overtime, but as we all know mother nature kind of takes care of lineman:D....that or some unexpected trouble....all in all our foreman would tell you that they wanted you to work, make money...if work was available and it was justified there would be no questions asked. So who is only allowed 40?

i work with a contractor up here in the great white north. 40 hours a week is all that is expected, unless a job is way behind deadline, or there is justification for it , but thats rare.

I was an apprentice working with a company that was going through negotiations with the union. All the lineman and apprentices agreed to not respond to call outs or overtime. This was to show that we were together as a group and also instead of striking. Management ended up giving me a bad report on my evaluation saying that I am not meeting my job description. Then the union rep came in and had our backs and fought for us. We went back to working overtime and then last week almost all of the apprentices including me got layed off! Supposedly they couldn't afford to keep us working.
