Hello, Ex-mil Narrowback (Interior Electrician) a few yrs, (to 4160), then worked UtilCo Eng Dept as engineering “grunt” (paperpusher), now starting in URD design for a Utility Contractor. I carried a set of tools long enough to know t/my Engineering knowlege is just enough to make me dangerous. So, I’m here to try to be a better URD “designer” and listen to the pet peeves and advice of the URD linemen and troublemen who get their hands dirty (+ risk safety). I learn more spending 20min listening to the “hands” over a whole day in the office. I wish I could do a month with a URD or Network crew. So, I’m hoping for the next best thing here. I’m reading every thread that includes the word “underground”. And, I’m listening to every bit of information and wisdom I can get, to be a better URD man, and create better designs for those who have to ultimately maintain them.
