Be safe if u are
Back in the late 80's I moved up to appr. and we hired a new grunt. He came in on his 2nd day wearing shorts. He was sent home to change and later that day we were running up to the store to grab...
Just a little story about neutral problems for all greenhorns. Maybe I should post this somewhere else too.A few years back I had a call for fluctuating voltage at a apt complex. The place i worked...
It is always a bird or a squirrel in my book
That kellum grip is like a steel cable with some broken strands that will put a hole in your gloves. I won't climb a pole with them on until i get near secondary no matter what the company rules are.
Why cant i see my profile pic after i enter a quote?
I have a 2000 21ft carolina skiff with a 1986 112 johnson and a trolling motor on a tandem axle float-on alum trailer, Also put a jensen am-fm-cd player in it last year. Also has 42 gal gas tank. If...
If you have a 1 shot on a circuit and a urd loop on the same circuit blows its fuse i bet it will still knock out the circuit and the dispatcher will contact the crew the 1 shot was issued too. The...
The neutral, It had to be some old direct buried secondarys burning in the same trench. Lots of water in the area.
Yes to your 1st question and the old cable was non-jacketed and i was sliding a kellum grip over it to hook to the new cable so when we pull out old the new goes right back in the pipe. I do not wear...
We were replacing a urd primary cable and went through normal grounding procedures. This was a cable in conduit job to just pull out and pull in new. Cut nuetral loose and removed elbow on my end and...
Southwest fla, funny thing happened the other day, I just got done repairing a primary fault and was switching it back in when I heard a fuse blow but it was'nt my phase. Anyway, FPL troublemen came...
Live in Florida.Started in the trade in 1984. Never went to app. school, just on the job training. Wish I did now because FPL won't hire without your plaque. Wonder how many there don't have it...
I have been working behind a recloser before with a 1 shot and it locked out from something else and the dispatcher called and I tell him " men and equipment are in the clear " and they bring the...
I am seeing more and more of grunts and app. putting a grip on service and pull it up to the pole. I was taught to undo the handline and throw the rope around the service a few times and hook it back...
Totally agree. A grip that falls off the wire when you let off the tension sucks and could possibly cause an accident.
Looks like to me that there are headache racks, 1 on the top of cab and 1 on the rear of truck or am I seeing things?
90% of the time i use one is when dispatch needs some switching done and the switching requires breaking feeder ties.
Now that i think back a bit i did not use them on tx banks because you were going to c/o pole and hang new tx's so customers always dropped the sec. load because they wanted to protect their...
Can you take a pic of the grips and belt hoist for that fellow too?
A few years ago we had a crew changing out a pot in a salt spray area and the foreman was standing under the pole when the linemen took his first turn on the hanger bolt and the tx hit the ground....
I hope you are kidding but my neighbor heard me laughing when i read your quote.
Guess who gets the butt chewing when you burn something up and a note in your file?
