    Alabama
Police and rescue workers are on the scene of a death in Irondale.

A worker is suspended from a utility pole about 25 feet from the ground on Birmingham Avenue, held in place by his safety harness. Passers-by spotted the unconscious worker on the pole about 30 minutes ago and notified authorities.

Irondale detectives just arrived on the scene. Detective Michael Mangina said paramedics have pronounced the man dead.

"We don't know if it's a medical condition or if he was accidentally shocked," Mangina said.

Alabama Power workers are on the scene to cut off power to the pole. Authorities are waiting for the Jefferson County Coroner's Office to arrive before they remove the body from the pole.

Authorities said the man worked for Charter. His identity has not yet been released.

And some people still see nothing wrong with working alone.

Even if he was uninjured and fell into a harness 'SUSPENSION TRAUMA' can kill a person within 7-8 minutes in some cases.
