For F sake. If he was here and was "useing" his corect saftey gear.he couldn't have fallen. We are permenently attached AT ALL TIMES.

IF IT WASN'T FOR BAD LUCK WE WOULD HAVE NO LUCK AT ALL. !
This was a second step apprentice, climbing a wood transmission pole. From the details I heard, he was using two JELCO straps, and apparently as he was climbing around an obstruction on the pole, and double belting, he accidentally unsnapped the strap that was around the pole and fell to his death.
Climbing belts with one D ring on each side were not designed to have multiple straps attached to the D rings, it was always a cardinal sin to have something other than your skid snapped into the D ring before all this "100% fall protection" stuff came along. It really becomes a clusterf*#k with 3 snaps on one D ring, something that the clowns coming up with all these rules never take into consideration. Maybe the contractors should start buying us climbing belts with double D rings if they are going to require us to climb with two skids - if it becomes a requirement for us to switch to double D rings, the contractor must supply this, not the linemen.
My deepest sympathies to our fallen brother's family.
Living my life and loving it!!!
