    Post 35kv

Our Co-op added 35KV lines about 20 years ago. Main differences are more coverup, use higher Class IV coverup, Higher class IV gloves and Sleeves, pay attention to the Humidity (we do not glove 35kv above 85% humidity). Finally remind the lineman that 35KV has higher fault currents and is less forgiving about the way you move jumpers.

On 34.5 , we always find ways to switch it out and work anything you can de-energized., even if just doing things like load relief. I mean open fuses in ug runs if you have too. 34.5 is a real strong biter, the gloves don't help as much as you would think. If it's moist out or rainy, big trouble....bite bite bite !!! Ug tracks more, so ya' gotta watch your switch sticks and shotguns, long grass will track super easy and blow the elbows, transformer or fuse. On OH, monitor your clearances, you'll have way less than you did on a 15Kv system to get yourself in trouble. But again, if you can work it de-energized, it should be safer and easier....ISOLATE, TEST & GROUND !!!
