Experienced Electrical Lineman

The Borough of Park Ridge Electric Utility is responsible for serving over 4000 electric customers. We are seeking a qualified applicant for an experienced utility lineman (NJ Civil Service Title - Line Worker).  Responsible for performing skilled work in Overhead / Underground distribution construction, maintenance and repair of energized and de-energized electrical distribution lines (up to 4KV) and de-energized sub-transmission lines (up to 26KV).  Responsible for installations, maintenance, and repair of underground electric distribution systems. Also responsible for substation switching.

Duties include but are not limited to the following: construction and maintenance of the Borough’s overhead and underground electric distribution lines.  Responsible for emergency restoration on energized and de-energized services, secondary and primary conductors and equipment.  Assisting with the periodic troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and switching at the Borough’s two electric substations.  Position is 5-day 40-hour work week (no shifts) and on call as needed.

Minimum Requirements include the following:   5 years minimum electric distribution construction experience.  Must be qualified to work on energized electric distribution lines (up to 4KV), de-energized sub-transmission lines, secondary lines, residential services, and underground electric distribution systems without direct supervision. Must be able to climb wood poles, operate a bucket truck and perform pole top rescues.  Must follow all safe work practices. Requires advanced skills in math, reading comprehension, and advanced verbal communication skills. Must have a high level of attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.  May be required to work weekends, evenings and holidays for emergencies.  Commercial Driver’s License class B is required (class A preferred).
