California-Nevada JATC is currently seeking experienced qualified Journeyman Linemen for Instructor Positions.  We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic individuals interested in the training, instruction and certification of apprentices, journeyman and other industry classification workers.

The Instructor positions will be located at our Woodland Training Center located in Woodland, CA.  Under the direction of the Training Coordinator, the Outside Line Instructors will teach in multiple environments including classroom, indoor and outside lab settings.  The instructors will be responsible for evaluating student knowledge and progress on skill attainment. Coursework includes safety, line truck operation, pole climbing, line construction, transformer installation, service, and other related topics.  

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and participate in the instruction of classes for the apprenticeship.
  • Assist with program development, improvement, and evaluation.
  • Assist with the selection of textbooks, instructional materials, equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare lesson plans, course overviews and course syllabi.
  • Maintain student discipline through effective classroom management.
  • Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate feedback.
  • Maintain updated syllabi and other course documents that reflect the expected student learning outcome.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and accessible files and records, daily attendance, and other paperwork and reports.
  • Submit attendance records, reports, and grades in compliance with Apprenticeship due dates and timelines.
  • Proctor and grade tests.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure proper storage and security of supplies.
  • Assist in staffing needs at both Riverside and Woodland Training Centers as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness of class/grounds/lab area
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and written in a professional manner with colleagues, students and staff.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform tasks under pressure and in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to climb poles and towers
  • Thorough understanding of specific work methods and procedures, including all safety practices.

 Other Necessary Requirements:

  • Maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License
  • Maintain valid First Aid and CPR certifications

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • IBEW Journeyman Lineman
  • Completed an Outside Line registered apprenticeship program is preferred but not required
  • Prior experience teaching apprentices both on the job and in the classroom is preferred but not required.

Open Positions:

  • Full time-Instructor position
  • Temporary Instructor position (3–6-month duration)

Hourly Wage:

Starting pay is $113.03/hour

Full-time employee benefits:

Health Insurance: Employer pays 100% of insurance premium for Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO plan.

Retirement:

SEP account -15% of wages are contributed by Cal-Nev JATC on behalf of the employee. Contributions to SEP accounts are always 100 percent vested or owned by the employee.

N.E.B.F.  National Electrical Benefit Fund                                                                          

3% contribution by Cal-Nev JATC to the National Electrical Benefit Fund on behalf of the employee.
