Electric Utility Field Auditors & Audit Supervisors (Distribution Construction & Safety)
Location: Columbus, OH (Statewide Travel)
About the Role
Joe Knows Energy is hiring Field Auditors and Field Audit Supervisors to support electric distribution construction across Ohio.
These roles are focused on electric utility work—evaluating overhead and underground distribution construction, safety practices, and compliance with industry standards.

Position
1. Field Audit Supervisor (Electric Distribution)
Lead. Coach. Drive consistency.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of ~6 field auditors
- Oversee audits of electric distribution construction (overhead & underground)
- Ensure compliance with NESC, OSHA 1910.269, and utility standards
- Review job briefings, switching/tagging, grounding, PPE, and safety practices
- Maintain consistency in audit scoring, reporting, and documentation
- Interface with utility leadership and contractors
- Deliver weekly/monthly quality and performance insights
Compensation: $45–$65/hr (based on experience)
2. Field Auditor (Electric Distribution)
Be in the field. Evaluate. Improve.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily field audits of electric distribution crews
- Evaluate construction quality, safety compliance, and work practices
- Review job briefings, PPE, grounding, cover-up, and equipment use
- Verify compliance with NESC, OSHA 1910.269, and utility standards
- Document findings using photos, notes, and standardized scoring tools
- Communicate results and insights to leadership
Qualifications (Both Roles)
- Experience in electric utility distribution (lineworker, foreman, inspector, safety professional, or related role)
- Strong understanding of:
- NESC (National Electrical Safety Code)
- OSHA 1910.269 (Electric Power Generation, Transmission & Distribution)
- Ability to work outdoors in active construction environments
- Willingness to travel throughout Ohio
- Strong communication and documentation skills
