Submitted By - Unknown Mom To my son on his 23rd birthday.....

Some boys come home and tell their Moms they want to be an astronaut....
Some boys come home with the dream of flying jets....
Some boys come home with a BMX bike, and tell you how much air they got on the track jumps that day.....
My boy had many dreams along the way, and one day he came to me and said, " I am going to be a Lineman." "A what, I asked?" "A Lineman, Mom. First I'll be a grunt and help my linemen from the ground. They'll teach me 'from the ground up.' Then I'll be an apprentice with more in-depth training, and I'll start "going up in the air". When I graduate, I'll be a Journeyman Lineman, and I'll be able to do this work anywhere and whenever I want for the rest of my life."
Every day my heat pump runs 24-7 keeping my home warm or cool. Every day I turn on a light, or a microwave at will without even thinking of the blessing it is. When clouds gather and thunder strikes, and I wake up to its rumblings in a pitch-black house that is getting more uncomfortable by the minute, I think of the brave men who get out of their beds, put on their gear, and face the elements in order to restore the power to us. I'm grateful for those secret angels, but they have always been taken for granted, especially on the beautiful, sunny days when all is well.
Now my son is one of those secret angels going up in the air on the calm days and the stormy days. He not only saves us from dark suffering, but he brings the latest modern technology to homes and businesses who need it. I'm not afraid of his work, because I know he loves what he does, and what more could a mother ask for her son?
If my son were here right now, I'd tell him once again how very proud I am of him. I'd tell him that in his heart I see everything I ever imagined in a Hero. I see a soft, sweet heart and a strong, strong man. I would tell him once again that the very thought of him in a quiet moment brings tears to my eyes even now. And I know what he'd say.......
I love you, too, Mom
