While changing out a 3 ph pole with a 1 ph loop dip, myself & another "lineman", I had untied the phases & floated them (dead). Just as he removed the terminator from the cutout, I started to tell him it might be hot, he threw it out and away from the pole striking the telephone & cable guys, arching and bellowing before I could say anything. He had been told to work everything as if it were hot. The pole was broke about 7' down from the pole top. He assumed the cutout blew and the underground dip was dead. It was feeding out of a loop feed trans.150' away. He was lucky he never got any part of the urd cable against his body. Never assume- know. But this is from a guy who doesn't know where x1 is on a transformer, or how to hook up the Lv side of a wye-delta bank (4 wire open delta).
