Don't trust anyone!

I was working for a contractor once. We were converting 4160 to 12470. The line we were working on was a double circuit. We converted the top circuit to 12470 and removed all the 4kv pots and hung 12.5 pots connected to the top circuit. All that remained was to wreck out the bottom circuit wires and arms. After I had worked one pole and was walking to the next the foreman approached me and confided that T--- had just about gotten it. T--- had opened the fuse on a pot and climbed up and sat astride the pot while removing the wire and crossarm. When T---'s leg irons sparked in the open wire below the pot he realized it was backfeeding. He then leaned over and shorted out the openwire with his cresent until the secondary fuses blew. T--- later told me that the foreman had instructed him that when he opened the pot fuse that it would be dead. I would expect that he came pretty close to the primary bushing of the pot while sitting on top of it. Don't trust anyone!
