And then there was the time me and this knucklehead were gonna bump a phase to another phase. It was 4 kv and I recall the grunts were still shoveling around the butt of the pole we had just installed. I told the other guy to cut the wire with a pair of boltcutters and as he cut it in the clear I would quickly pop the mechanical on it. Not a load pickup mech but a reg mech. Just gonna blink their lights. Anyway when he cut he didn't make a clean cut and when I slapped the mech. on it made quite an arc and noise and of course made a nice gap in the boltcutters and blew the jumper into. Just blinked their lights tho. We kept our cool tho and I heard one of the grunts say to the other. What was that and the other fellow replied they must have picked up a hellofa load. We never told them any different.
