Induction, In 1995 a friend of mine and pole partner died from induction. He was working on a emergency call, a 230 kv line was down a set of suspension bells had parted. They had a tailboard and decided to ground on both sides of the tower with the wire down. My friend was in the process of installing grounds he was on the bottom arm of a steal tower from that location he could ground the center and bottom phase. He installed the ground clamps for both single point grounds to the steal on the arm, he then installed the center phase ground on the conductor. His next move was to install the ground on the bottom phase but the cord was not long enough to reach the conductor so he loosened up the clamp on the steal to move it to a position that would give him enough cord to install the ground. When my friend removed the clamp from the steal he removed the wrong clamp he removed the clamp to the ground on the center phase. My friend was electrocuted my friend cut a corner our rules state that no ground clamp can be removed from the steal until all grounds are removed from the conductor. My friend was in his early thirties with a wife and 3 kids. Think about this the next time you can save a minute cutting a corner. It took me 6 years to be able to write this. I miss you Manny.
