Here is an unexplained story. My job was to pick up an isolated 3 phase 27.6 feeder on loops. the feeder went overhead approx three spans to an underground dip, under a highway approx 100 metres to an overhead line approx 4 kilometers to an open ABS. We installed the first two loops using a 4' shotgun. when we attempted to install the third and last loop, the loop arched from the loop and caused the feeder to lock out. We had a holdoff on the circuit which probably saved our bacon.
I had installed these loops many times before, in fact I installed them, without incident. This time for some unknown reason, they faulted.
As for the pad mount transformers, on our 3 phase 27.6, we had problems picking up the transformers. After closing the two fuses, the third fuse seemed to blow. So now we pick up the cable first, and then close the primary switch on the can.
Work safe everybody. Christmas is coming with all the bad weather. I never figured I would ever get hurt doing normal line work. It was when things were not normal, like the middle of the night, or an accident...you know what I mean...when I would have gotten hurt.
