Anybody else out there having trouble with chance cut-outs breaking in half.

We used to have a lot of combination cut out/arresters . Have had many failures with those breaking in half. Pretty exciting closing one in and it breaking in two where it's mounting bracket comes out of the glass and the fuse barrel being the only thing holding everything together. There's not a whole lot of them left on the system now though. Been having an increased number of outages caused by fuse fatigue, believe those are S&C though. Don't know if it's bad fuses or something to do with the fuse tension imposed on them by the tube. CS

'92 chance c/o's are failing quite regularily here in british columbia.just finished a c/o change contract here in the spring.the worst problem was the '92 chance with the stainless steel tops(25kv).the rest weren't too bad

I work in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and we have been having a problem with Chance cutouts. Even newer ones that have only been up a couple of years are breaking. We change them out every chance we get. Have changed to a different company and different setup. Maybe Chance will get the hint and do something.

I work for CVPS in Vermont. We have been having problems with chance cutouts also. Chance answer was we were the only ones with this problem. Be safe and at a distance when working any chance cutout.

Chance is full of shit if they're denying that there's anything wrong with their 25kv cut-outs. We've had 3 break in the last month and we probably only have a 100 or so the whole district.

I work in Hawaii and have noticed that over here a chance c/o is only good for about three or four years before its rotting off the bracket. Driving down the road at night is like the fourth of July up on the arm. Are other Utilities in corrosive environments experiencing the same thing and if so what are you guys doing about it. The polymers seem to stand up to the layers of salt far better than the porcelain.

lineman in Hawaii we stopped buying chance their defective and chance co. will not own up to it we now use S&C we would like polymer ones their lighter
