Submitted By - Just wanted to add some info to the cutouts failing. I worked for a power company in Newfoundland, Canada where we had some major issues mainly with the S&C cutouts. It began with several near misses when operating the cutouts, the tops would shear off with hot high sides still attatched and these would swing at will. The results were a inspection of all cutouts in the entire systems to identify any visual abnormalities, hairline cracks etc..This was approx. 8 years ago and to my recolection about 30% of all cutouts in the system failed and had to be repalced. It got to the point that Control Center began to drop entire feeders just to close a set of cutouts Safely! Be Careful I've seen some Crazy Fire from these cutouts, stay out of their reach!
