ONE WINTER NIGHT BY JEFF MEREDITH
                     1969-2006

A blizzard blows through one winter night
leaving a small family without warmth and light

A frightened mother, no husband at home
An infant smothered in blankets, her face barely shown

    Cutting wind and bitter cold
Two seasoned linemen with hearts of gold

Razor sharp gaffs, an icy pole
The linemen get started with a prayer from the soul

Cracking and groaning, it feels like it might shatter
But there's a cold infant out there, so it doesn't matter

Exhausted and tired, the power restored
A faint light flickers in the distance they look toward

She stands in the window, her furnace back on
She smiles and waves, she's a thankful mom.
