A LINEMAN’S THOUGHTS

Working with the best men, in all the land,
Trusting our lives, with each others hand.
Sometimes we’re with our fellow workers more,
Than with our families, that we adore.
Transformer banks are built, in delta and wye,
We never attain full knowledge, but always ask why.
Training new guys, with our hard work and knowledge,
They’ve got to be smarter than us, and even got to college.
Mistakes can cause, a bad fate,
They will bury, skin graft, or amputate.
Through Tornadoes, and even an Ice storm,
We always remember, the bonds that we form.
Work is hard, through the wind and the rain,
Trying  just to survive, and live with the pain.
With all the nights that  don’t end, and lines we repair,
We pray safety was first, because we all care.
Always thinking Is the pole broken or is it just bent,
Wondering what’s the next trouble call, or where we’ll be sent.
Some people moan and gripe, and don’t seem to appreciate,
But we just keep on working, and try not to hate,
Those that are understanding, and meet you with a smile,
Makes all the dangerous work easier, and worthwhile.
They think we do it, just for the pay,
Life is priceless, that’s not why we stay.
You can’t ever leave it, no matter where you are,
As the lightning begins to flash, and the wind starts to blow,
Hunting, fishing, or just riding in your car.
We get our boots and clothes out, because we’ve probably got to go.
