Look at that boy a' climbin'
up to the top of that pole-
In his belt and his hooks
and all the girls look
'cause he puts on quite a show.
He's a lineman
Union lineman
And you know when the cold wind blows,
that Journeyman's got to go.
Well the wind was a' howlin'
and the lightning was a' flashin'
and the rain was a' poundin' down--
when a big fir came through the line over yonder
and it knocked out the whole damn town.
They called that lineman,
Union lineman--
'Cause you know when the cold wind blows,
that journeyman's got to go.
He's a rigger, he's a swigger,
he's a cusser and a kicker,
and on the big job he'll be there--
'cause he's willing and he's able
stringing wire, pulling cable--
Lion proud, tough as a bear.
He's a lineman,
union lineman.
you'll see no fear in his eyes,
No whimper heard in his song.
He's a lineman,
journeyman lineman,
He'll risk his own life and limb
just to get your power back on.
