Well most of the time, since about 5 years old.
When high school was over it seemed like a race.
No longer to young, it showed in my face.
A kid with no plan, no money, or such.
School was not an option, just seemed like too much.
But linework, Ah linework, it had an appeal.
Something I could see, touch, and feel.
Met lots of old linemun while learning the trade.
"I'll show you ropes kid, soon you'll have it made."
"Theres only a couple things you must remember to do,
in order to make it all the way thru."
What is it that is so important to know?
Now I'm so far into this I can't let go.
"Kid, it does sometimes seem like a race,
I can see the look, it shows in your face."
"Dont get in such a hurry, slow down and think first."
Thats it? I gotta go now I'm dying of thirst. "
The last part is simple, don't be the boldest ."
"Dont be the best linemun in the world,
just make sure to be the Oldest."
