Some days are diamonds and some days are coal

some days are sunshine or rain

I often wonder, if I haven't sold my soul

The price we pay, doesn't come without pain

Four generations, of the I.B.E.W., run thru my blood

I call the fifth, "my little tool for the trade"

When I leave, and he cries, I tell him, "it's ok Bud."

I know it's just another price, that has to be paid

I get the call and know, it's time to go, for now

It's all iced up, and the 500 hundred is down

on the way to the job, I wonder when, where, and how

It don't much matter, their down all over town

I get there, and the Lord had er pretty much all wrecked out

Total destruction, of the line, my fore brothers made

The G.F hollars, "The chopper went down, while in route!"

I knew it was just another price, that had to be paid

Another bird comes, we load up, and fly out the line

we throw on the grounds, and filally get the nod

when we get er back up, everything will be fine

time to tool up, hump this iron, and go talk to God

We get er back up, and energized, and purring like a kitten

Time to shed these cloths, and thank all those who stayed

I saw the G.F, head in his hands, crying, just sittin

I knew, another price had just been paid

To all my fallen friends, and brothers, I often ask why

Did I sell my soul, is it worth the price I have to pay

I'm up here,, now, with you working the"BIG-JOB" in the sky

You see, it was me, that, the G.F. cried for that day

In the end, it was all worth it,just another price I had to pay
