Every second we get feels ever so right
My darling, my love, you’ll be alone but don’t fright
It’s because the lineman you love got another call tonight

Your smile, your eye’s, your beautiful hair
I can’t help but think of it while I’m in the air
I know you think your alone right know but like the electricity I work on you can’t see me but I’m there

Honey I’m sorry I won’t be home when I said
I’m so tired and numb, I feel like I’m dead
My body aches, there’s a pounding in my head
Please give our son a kiss from dad when you put him to bed
I love you both so much, you’re what gets me through
Oh, the thought of coming home to you
I am truly blessed with all that we share
Everyday I come home you show that you care
Please tell our son that dad’s trying to be fair
But like the electricity I work on, he can’t see me but I’m there

I’m finally home and surrounded by love
Our boy runs to his room to get his ball and glove
Son I’m tired Dads had a long day
After a night like that what else could I say?
He fidgets and looks and stares with a frown
I get up, there’s no way in HELL I can let my son down

It’s a beautiful day
So out to the yard we go play
And with one throw of the ball….
Damnit….. Another call…..

We lineman are rugged, hardened and tough
Tired and sore, covered in three day old scruff
Our hands are pruned from the gloves that we wear
The hard hats we sport mats down our hair
Although you may not always see us, we are always there

I meet my family as my son gets on the bus
God Bless our families, they are tougher than us!
