Submitted By - Lapp WarningBrother's, there was recently a bulletin put out of LAPP insulators at my company. Today I luckily found out why. Our crew was installing flying bells in a fortunately fused loop on small wire. (4 acsr) with a very slight angle. We are in a various type insulation district. the insulator that broke and fell across a single phase buck with a P.N. was a 6 skirt LAPP. It broke between the bottom and second skirt and was apparently of the early 70's type described in our bulletin. I forgot to mention that the wire was baggy. This insulator let go with no warning and fell across the buck blowing the fuse on the buck as well as the one on the phase we were working.
