Back in december 2004 we set up on our last pole for the day. our task was to move the neutral from the old pole back ten feet to the new pole. As the foreman handed me a rubber hose and my truck ground, Daniel went to rubber up his side and prepare to do the task at hand. If you have ever worked for contractor you know that it is not uncommon to be short handed on the jobsite. Daniel did not have a groundman, so he setup his truck on his own, same as I. he draped his truck ground over the side of the bucket and threw some hoses in the bucket. He went to the primary to cover up, forgetting about the ground hanging on the side of his bucket. The ground made contact with the primary and energized the ground, it blew off his knee then he fell face first into the line. The went current threw him off several time, but his head fell right back on the wire. Meanwhile, I was booming up fast as i could to pull him in the clear. I got just below him when his head came falling past me and hit the ground. The rest is just a memory I have to live with each and everyday. Five years later I'm still doing the trade I love. So be safe my brothers and remember..... A LINEMANS PENCIL HAS NO ERASER.
