I had worked all day and of course right at knockoff  time a storm blows through. After working a few calls I was told to change hats and sent out to help the trouble shooters. Its now 1am, pouring down rain, and Im about 4 miles out patrolling a single phase line that runs about 2 miles out to feed a house and a barn.I find nothing and go back to the cut out get a fuse, my flash light and stick ,jump the ditch cross the barbed wire fence into the pasture where the open fuse is .After refusing and trying to hang the barrel in the rain and wind I dropped my head a shook it trying to get the water out of my eyes.I caught something moving on the ground toward me.I stepped backand when I did I saw the white stripes as it quickly turned and the tail went up.There 4ft in front of me was skunk cocked and loaded. The first thing that came to mind was ,"Please lord I dont need this now". The skunk turned his head and looked at for the longest 3 seconds, then dropped his tail and ran off the way he came,Thank ya lord !
