Submitted By -I had received a check for safety call on a meter replacement call. Upon arrival I was met by a nice elderly lady who told me there was a problem with the new ERT meter that had been installed the previous week. She couldn't explain the problem she had to show me. I grabbed my tools and a fluke meter and followed her to the basement meter. She stopped approx. 15 ft. from the meter and stated "I can the feel the waves coming off the meter." I being a little dumbfounded asked her to explain. She stated "since the new meter was installed everytime I get near it the waves make me collapse to the ground." I realized the situation I was in and pulled my fluke meter out and put it on DC. As predicted the meter showed a slight fluctuation, I removed the meter, walked to my truck, out of sight of the woman, peeled off the ERT sticker, and wiped the dusy off of it and then I proceeded back into the house and replaced the meter. I switched my fluke to AC and stated to the woman "Nothing leaking now" and asked the woman to approach the meter and let me know if she still feels the waves. She proceeded to the meter and said "you did an excellent job I feel nothing"
I advised her if she had any trouble to give us a call back and quickly left before I burst out laughing. We haven't heard from her since.
