The winter of '96 '97 was one hell of a winter. We started getting snow in the first week of November and It didn't stop till mid February. My partners and myself worked for over 30 days straight. Needless to say, the snow stood at least 4 foot tall in the valleys and deeper in the hills. Well in that kind of a winter, we patch things together as best we can and wait for better weather to do permanent repairs. In the spring of 1997 we were in the process of making permanent repairs along side a creek . This creek is on private property and down in a canyon, where no one can see it from any road. With the high run off, a yard implement ended up in the creek. It happened to be a bright pink flamingo. My partners were in the air re-sagging the 3 phase line when I grabbed the flamingo and put it upside down in the truck vice. I didn't get their attention until I drilled a 13-16 hole in the bottom of it. They didn't know what I was up to until I inserted a wood pin and pin nail in it and sent it up on the hand line. They installed it and we thought it was kind of neat. Well in the year 2000 we had to go back in that canyon and had to go by the land owner's house. The old lady that lives there said she thought that that flamingo was really neat and that every time she had company, she just had to bring them down to see "The Flamingo Pole".
