A few years back I got a no light call. It was summer and about 6 at night. parts of our service area are two man after 3 and two man after dark. This was an after dark area, although it is still a rough part of town. I get to this womans house. She is somewhere between 60 and 70 I guess. After I announce I'm from the Electric Company she lets me in. And then tells me that the people in the house behind her are shooting at her house with a ray gun. OK. I can take care of that I tell her. Then she says the same people are also stealing her electricity. Not a problem. Then she starts to show me about a hundred Polaroid pictures of her breaker panel. Every on the same. I say let me go to the basement and look around. The panel is the same rats nest as in the pictures. I tell her that her electric is normal and I see no signs of anybody stealing hers. Now she is getting pissed off. Back upstairs she shows me the back door of her kitchen leading to her yard. She has placed empty tin cans in a pyramid in front of this door about 5 feet high. She tells me that is so when the murderers come for her she will hear them. Murderers? Yes, she said. When she was 4 years old she witnessed a murder in North Carolina and ever since they have been after her. And guess what she tells me. The murderers are the ones shooting her house with the ray gun and stealing her electricity. I tell her I gotta go. She says not until I take care of her problem. I tell I need to get out to my ladder truck to file the proper report and I will mail her a copy. No good. These people also steal her mail. I say OK, I just bring a copy back to you. It is a shame when you think about it. This woman had serious problems and nobody to talk to. She also had electricity shooting out of the wall and grabbing her ankles.
