After a major storm in the south west of Western Australia myself and my off sider where replacing pole fuses to customer supplies.

we had been out most of the night doing verious faults from broken conductor to blown drop out fuses and we where trying to get the power back on for the dairy farmers first because the cows need milking by the time we got there.

there was two blown 63amp nilcrom fuses up the pole these went back in no problem. tested the customers meter and made sure we had supply there. everything was fine and ready to be switched back on. after being out all night in the rain all my gear was wet so i had my wet gloves which i removed so that i wouldn't have water dripping inside the meter box. this was the worst thing i could have done as when i truned the customers 3 phase main switch back on it exploded send a flame about 3 feet straight out cooking the back of my hand. luckly i was to one side and my face wasn't anywhere near it.

the pain was unbeliveable but i shoved it straight into a mudding puddle of water which help to cool it down and reduce the pain. never again have i taken my gloves off no matter how wet they are.
