The telephone serviceman called us to investigate why his pedestal at the road was energized. we looked in the pedestal and the telephone drop going to the house was red hot at the ground connection, so we went to the house and checked voltage and it was ok, we pulled the meter and the telephone cable was not glowing anymore. we got an electrician to check in the house and he found a bad element in the water heater was putting voltage on the ground and the the tele cable carried it to the pedestal.
